Fiber Arts:
Off-Loom Weaving
Jessica Holton is a clinical social worker and an award-winning fiber artist. She began expanding her fiber arts journey beyond sewing in September 2022. While taking a drop spindle fiber spinning class, she wondered what she could do with the created yarn. She began weaving on a tapestry loom in October 2022, taught herself how to knit in December 2022, and attended her first off-loom (virtual) workshop in February 2023. She has also explored visible mending and embroidery.
She teaches off-loom weaving workshops at fiber festivals, yarn shops, and education centers. Her off-loom weaving pieces have been accepted in two juried art exhibits and one piece won Best of Show of at a competition in 2023.
Jessica takes pride in using sustainable materials, such as industrial mill yarn ends, and repurposed or found objects.
